The Supplies You Need for Flu Season

With cold and flu season upon us, it’s easy to feel helpless as a parent. How do we keep our kids healthy? And how do we keep them comfortable if they do catch the flu? Should they get the flu shot? What is Tamiflu? Is there anything I can do now to prepare for cold and flu season?

We teamed up with Dr. Katie at Forever Freckled to host a Facebook live chat to talk about the supplies we need to stock up on for flu season as well as answers to some of your flu-related questions.

  1. Boogie Wipes® Saline Nose Wipes. These soft saline-infused tissues dissolve mucus and help soothe sore noses. Want to avoid painful, raw skin around the nose? Start using Boogie Wipes® saline nose wipes at the first sign of a runny or stuffy nose. You can grab Boogie Wipes® saline nose wipes on Amazon Prime here.
  2. Boogie Mist® Saline Mist. A saline nose spray is a must when it comes to helping to relieve congestion and keep the nasal passages moist. You can now find Unscented Boogie Mist® saline mist in the Baby Aisle at Walmart.
  3. Boogie Drops® Saline Nose Drops. Made specifically for infants age 0 -2, these saline nose drops feature a specially designed tip for controlled dropping and easy dosage control. The dropper is also a smaller size, making it easier to use with tiny noses. Click here to learn more.
  4. Crane Humidifier. It’s important to add moisture to your child’s room while they’re sleeping. Not only will it help to ease sore throats caused by dry winter air, it will also help to ease congestion and nighttime cough. See the full line of Crane humidifiers here.
  5. Kandoo BrightFoam Moisturizing Hand Soap. The most important defense against cold and flu germs is proper handwashing. Kandoo BrightFoam Moisturizing Hand Soap comes in fun colors and scents, making your kids WANT to wash their hands. You can grab it on Amazon Prime here.
  6. Thermometer. A working thermometer is a must when you have kids, especially during cold and flu season.
  7. Fever Reducers. Kids’ Motrin and Acetaminophen in your medicine cabinet will have you prepared in case a fever hits in the middle of the night. (Be sure to consult with your pediatrician on proper dosing for your child.)
  8. Elderberry. If you’re not familiar with this immune-boosting syrup, be sure to watch our Facebook live with Dr. Katie (linked below) and ask your pediatrician for advice.
  9. Your Pediatrician’s Number. Go ahead and program it into your phone so you’ll always have it when you need it.
